Brain Tumour

By Kumkum Ramchandani

Horrible vicious tentacles
Desecrating the verdant red
Incubating like a succubus
Dark voracious parasite
Sucking leeching draining
Using precious fuel
To nourish evil vanity
A menacing spore
From the stratosphere
Spreading malignancy
Leaving little chance
Of meaningful regeneration
The body begins to give up
Lurching, swaying, stumbling
Hand-eye co-ordination
Is severely compromised
Relentless taking over of
Most body functions
We try to be stoic
But cannot mask the doom
In our moistening eyes
And then the radiation
Utterly degrading
Strapped in a torture chamber
Medieval monstrosity
That delivers intense heat
The head is charred coal black
The hair follicles die
And never rejuvenate
Turned forever hair free
Scalp defencelessly fragile
Lush hair gone forever
No dignity left
Say goodbye to masculinity
Say au revoir to pride
You are now a baby
And people around you
Minister to every need
With devastation in their eyes
