My Articles

Welcome to my website. Let me tell you about myself. I came to Canada several years ago and love my new home. It has given me the freedom and self-expression I have been seeking all my life. I am an artist and writer. I am also starting to teach yoga, something which was a dream for a long time but is now being fulfilled. I have done a yoga teachers training from Sheridan College, Oakville, but I truly believe that my true teaching is from my heart and soul. Yoga is a union of mind and body and I aim to teach it not only as a way of getting fit physically but as a path to being at peace mentally and free from disease and stress. Simply because that is what regular practice has done for me.

Art is another passion for me. I have a done a certificate programme in Fine Art also from Sheridan College and wonder of all wonders, have actually sold some paintings. I have exhibited at several venues in Canada, including Delta Meadowvale Hotel, Beaux Arts Gallery, Brampton, Caledon Town Hall and Streetsville Gallery. What sort of art do I do? Anything that moves me, whether it’s a cousin’s cat, flowers, still life or Muskoka!!! I paint in acrylic and oil. I also paint ethnic themes which keeps me in touch with my Indian roots. I have painted Indian scenes on big canvas (3 feet by 6 feet) for two living rooms, one in Canada and one in Long Island, New York.

Writing is my third passion. I was a staff reporter in Dubai for 10 years and now I write for several ethnic publications here in Canada. I have also done a one year stint with the Toronto Star where I was part of the Community Editorial Board for one year.

My future goal? To write a book and illustrate it with my own artwork. Some times dreams can come true……
